Maxis announced that they are deploying High-Speed Packet Access+ (HSPA+) into its network that would enable download speed up to 21Mbps (theoretically). For a start, users in selected areas of Klang Valley and Johor Bahru will experience significant improvement in download speeds.
The new HSPA+ network will consist of High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) and High-Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA). Maxis claims that its HSPA+ network can support speeds of up to 10–15Mbps in environments with good coverage. But, the operator did not release any details on the upload speeds.
Maxis said that the new technology is available to selected users on a trial basis and will be widely available to Maxis customers during 2010, however the company did not disclosed the exact date.
